When we think of “noise,” we often think of sound. But noise isn’t always something we hear—it can be something we see. In interior design, visual noise refers to anything in a space that creates a sense of chaos, overstimulation, or distraction for the eyes.

It’s that feeling you get when a room is filled with too many colors, clashing patterns, mismatched furniture, or overcrowded shelves. Even if everything is tidy, the space can still feel “noisy” if it lacks harmony or cohesion.
